Why subscribe?

Southern WV Settlers is NOT just about genealogy. Most of us are related by a small or large amount of DNA, but even if we are not, we do have many ancestors in common. Subscribers may discuss these people on our Facebook page.

However, most of the newsletters are more broad than specific families. There is factual information about the early history of Southern West Virginia and specific individuals who were important leaders during that time. The purpose is to discover those events, customs, and attitudes that we share because of our common heritage.

There are numerous other Facebook pages and sites that focus on genealogy, so if that is your focus, you might want to look for them and join.

Free subscribers can access most of the newsletters that include public information. This does not include photo galleries. Initially, paid subscribers had full access to the newsletter site, all archived articles, and photo galleries. At this time (January 2024), I am no longer accepting paid subscribers. The only way to gain access to “paid” content is to write an article about Southern WV Settlers in your own family or a related topic. Submit it to me by email, and, if published, will allow you to have “paid” status and view everything on the site.

You will receive a complimentary paid lifetime subscription by allowing me to use your article (with photos) that you have written about any of these counties: Fayette, Summers, Raleigh, Nicholas, Kanawha, Monroe, Greenbrier, Tazewell, or Mercer or a related WV topic. I reserve the right to edit or revise as needed, but I will get your permission first. With your permission, I will use your article on no more than TWO sites.
