Since some pages are not numbered, I will attempt to order by date. Note that this page seems to be the beginning of the endeavor and predates the pages of the deed, which I previously transcribed for this newsletter on August 20, 2023. The calendars pictured are NOT part of the original ledger. KB
TRANSCRIPTION OF LEDGER PAGE
At a meeting of the citizens of the neighborhood at the residence of John L Craig on Saturday Feby 13th 1892.
On motion it was decided to organize a society, whose object and purpose should be to build a church in our neighborhood.
On motion Fleming Huddleston was elected president and Prichard Wyatt secretary of the society
On motion John [L?] Craig was elected Treasurer of the society.
The following resolved were adopted by an (sic) unanimous vote
First: That we build a church.
Second: That we do not go in debt for anything.
Third: That we pledge to one another our mutual aid and assistance in this undertaking.
On motion it was decided that the church should be a baptist church but that all denominations should use it as a place of worship by and with the consent of the Trustees.
On motion, Mr Daniel Nihoof was called upon to name the church. He responded by naming the church Craig Chapel.
Fleming Huddleston, Henry O. Huddleston and Prichard Wyatt were appointed as building committee.

John L (or D) Craig was appointed to solicit money for the church.
The building committee was instructed to select a site, draft a plan of the building and to prepare and obtain a Deed for the church lot. And to report at the next meeting.
David Tamplin was appointed to aid the building committee in drafting a plan of the building to make out a bill of the lumber and to see where he could get the best bargain in buying the lumber and to report at the next meeting.
Adjourned to meet at John Craigs on Feby 22nd 1893.

Note from KB: Why would they wait a year to meet again? The deed was written in April 1892, as shown on Aug. 20, 2023. I think the year 1893 (above) is an error. We’ll see as we move forward.
