The information about fraternal organizations found in county histories is only accurate up to the date of publication, obviously. If you have an ancestor who was part of one of these groups, you may want to see if there is a national headquarters still in existence. One of my great-great grandfathers was a member of the Improved Order of the Red Men in Ansted, and I have discovered that their national headquarters is here in Texas. I would really like to make a trip there soon.
