As I have said numerous times, my SURVEY of these very early graves is simply to see what is there. It is in no way a validation of the data. However, the benefit at looking at these is that sometimes additional accurate family information is found, and sometimes there are documents or photos that accompany the memorial. Some of the memorials are based on publications from years past, such as a book called "The People of the Old Stone Cemetery" by M.D. Bunn, which has inaccurate information for William Withrow. (I will get to that memorial in the future.) The person who created the memorial relied on this book, not realizing it was wrong. Did the information come from a family member? Did it come from vital records? It is doubtful you will find vital records for deaths prior to 1853, but you cannot wholly trust ANY source, including Find-a-Grave and including me! And including you! WEIGH THE EVIDENCE. Double-check everything. Even then, you may discover years later that what you have is wrong. One nice feature of Find-a-grave is that most of the cemeteries have links to maps, so you can easily visit the grave yourself.
