As I mentioned in the last newsletter, Oren Morton has included genealogical information for many surnames of people who lived in Monroe County. We know there are mistakes. For example, in regard to Skaggs, Morton says that Sarah Skaggs married Joshua Ellis. This is false. It was Susan Skaggs who married Joshua Ellis. Sarah Skaggs married James Ellis, Joshua’s father. One of our subscribers has explained mistakes in the Johnson/Johnston line as well.
There are many more names: Kincaid, Ellison, Tackett, Woods, Boone, Ellis, Young, Alderson, Bowyer, Legg, Abbott, Jones, Lewis, Thompson, Wilson, Peters, Lively, Burnside, among others.
It might be helpful to others if you could take a look at lines with which you are familiar and let us know in the comments what mistakes you see.
