If you’ve read much of the early history of Fayette County, West Virginia, one name you will often come across is that of Hiram Hill. Here is a short biography of him, written by Clarence Shirley Donnelly in his book Historical Notes on Fayette County, West Virginia.
People all over the state of West Virginia have heard the name Morris Harvey. As is true of most early settlers, he lived during the time of frequently changing county boundaries, so I’m sure several counties will claim him as one of their own. Clarence Shirley Donnelly thought Harvey’s contributions to his state should be noted in his book Historical Notes on Fayette County, published in 1958.
Some of Daniel Boone’s relatives lived in Fayette County, and a bit of their family history was included in the 1926 History of Fayette County, West Virginia by Carden and Peters.
Carden and Peters also included the Tritt family in History of Fayette County, West Virginia in 1926. I am not related to any Kincaids, but Kincaid is a name I have often seen and heard in Fayette County.
