Valentine Felton “Felty” Miller /Mueller was a Monroe County resident and served in the Revolutionary War. There is a fairly complete biography of him on the Findagrave site here. Brian Miller has also written about Valentine Miller here. Valentine’s mother was an Ensminger, as was his wife. I have written about the Ensmingers in a previous post. Johann Theobaldt Mueller and Catherine Elizabeth Ensminger were his parents. All of Valentine’s grandparents were immigrants who came from the France-Germany border region, as was his father. They were escaping religious persecution. His pedigree compared with his wife’s shows the Ensminger connection. Valentine’s second wife was Jane Dick, by whom his son Isaac Miller was born. Note: There was another Valentine Miller around the same time, and these two men are often confused.
Below is the family group chart showing the children of Valentine Miller and his first wife, Catherine Elizabeth Ensminger. If you want more information, I will be happy to share the rest of my research. Just leave a comment below.
Unlike many Revolutionary Pension Applications, Valentine’s pension application was denied. Whether due to a mistake or deliberate deception, the reader will have to decide. I will post all the pages below. You can read most of the transcription on the Findagrave site, but I am including some items that you cannot see there. These are found at Ancestry.com.
