The 1850 Slave Schedules for all Virginia counties, which included Monroe and Nicholas at that time, can be found online at Ancestry.com and other genealogy websites. At Ancestry.com, the schedules are freely available. The documents list the slave owner by name and provide the age and gender of all his or her slaves.
