Many settlers of Southern West Virginia had roots in Botetourt County, Virginia. Some of this, of course, was quite by accident as county boundaries changed frequently. You might want to check the names for some of your ancestors. These lists are particular helpful in revealing misspelled names—spellings you would never think to search for.
