I came across this source today and thought you might find some familiar names. It’s obviously about Germans who traveled through or settled in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The book, at Archive.org, was written by John Walter Wayland, having been published in 1907. It is now in the public domain. However, I am publishing only the Index. (Let me know if the Index is not helpful.)
If you search online for “Shendandoah Valley maps”, you’ll find a wide variety of maps from many different sources, all showing the Shenandoah Valley. Below are three from Pinterest. I suggest you look at other maps, too, focusing on the county or region that pertains to your family.
INDEX: THE GERMAN ELEMENT OF THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA
On page 303, I found 2 of my paternal great 4th uncles, Peter Shaver and John Shaver. Their father Paulus Shaver was born in Germany.
