Thank You. My ten times Great Grandfather escaped with his family and ultimately procured New Amsterdam (New York) for the Huguenots. Fascinating history.
I just found a document that said Jesse de Forest died between French Guiana and Brazil and never made it to New Netherlands. Apparently, ISAAC, who married my ancestor's daughter, was his son. The document is at http://www.newyorkfoundation.net/the_birth_of_new_york/the_birth_of_new_york.html So, both the DeForests and the DuTrieuxs were Wallooons from Belgium. Interesting. They must have been on the same ship.
Jesse as far as I can tell never made it to American soil. Philippe De Trieux was here before Isaac and his brother and sister who came together. If memory serves me Philippe was one of the earliest.
Yes, he was. Here's what I have in my notes about Philippe Du Trieux: "They sailed in late March or early April 1624 to New Amsterdam in the ship "Nieuw Nederland." I am pretty sure his daughter Sarah was born in New Netherland.
I only have one De Forest in my tree: Isaac. He was the son-in-law of Philippe De Trieux, one of my Huguenot ancestors. There's probably a connection somewhere. His daughter's name was Sarah, born in New Netherland in 1625.
Yes Theodore R Deforest was my 3x Great Grandfather. Anna Deforest Cummings my 2x Great Grandmother and Doniphon Deforest Cummings my Great Grandfather

It's a delight to do genealogy research with New Amsterdam records. Their records are amazingly complete and accurate. What was your ancestor's name?
Jesse Deforest

If it is the same Isaac, he raised tobacco with his brother in Harlem. Their father was Jesse. Isaac is in my line as well.
Well, if Isaac is your ancestor, then you must also be a descendant of Philippe du Trieux and Susanna du Chesne.
